The programme offers presentations, workshops and sharing sessions related to the topics of internationalization in teaching, soft skills development and CEFR related assessment.

Abstract

Are you teaching presentation skills? If yes, do you know why you do so? Or why you include presentation activities in your course curricula? Do you know your students and their needs? Do they need good presentation skills? What do you aim at? What do you want to achieve? Do you yourself see presentation skills as your own strength? These and other, possibly trivial, questions will be raised and hopefully answered together during this sharing session with the goal of better understanding the direction we envision for our presentation classes.

Zvládání emočně náročné komunikace se studenty

Abstract

Komunikace se studujícími není vždy čistě věcná a profesionální, někdy do ní vnášíme emoce my, někdy studující. A pak taková situace klade zvýšené nároky na naše komunikativní dovednosti. Workshop ukáže možné přístupy k takovým situacím a prakticky si vyzkoušíme, co vyhovuje každému z nás a budeme hledat vlastní postup, jak v takových situacích reagovat.

Osvojování slovní zásoby pomocí her, online i offline aktivit a online aplikací

Abstract

Naši zahraniční studenti češtiny se během studia musejí potýkat s velkou spoustou slovíček i frází. Cílem workshopu je poukázat na aktivity, kterými se snažíme během výuky podpořit učení obecné i odborné slovní zásoby (lékařská čeština). V první časti si představíme časté i méně známé hry a aktivity, v druhé se zaměříme na online týmové hry (baamboozle a factile), na něž se podíváme z pohledu vyučujícího (jak vytvořit) i z pohledu studenta (jak hra vypadá na lekci).

Development of a Business English language course for part-time students at ESF: expected command of students´ English vs reality

Abstract

How to realistically design a course syllabus for part time students of business and economic programmes without needing to adjust the material to different language levels before every tutorial? In the sharing session, we will present the journey undertaken to develop a two-semester blended learning course and lessons we have learnt on the way. Sample material and exam tasks will be presented along with reflections of underlying erroneous assumptions at the outset.

Abstract

The book Právnická angličtina had been commissioned by its publisher as a handbook tailor-made for the needs of Czech lawyers. But as there are only so many Czech lawyers interested in Legal English, and our legal English team believes it contains many creative ideas that are generally applicable. This workshop will focus on a part of this book that should be easily adaptable to other audiences. Participants will have a chance to try out a section on negotiation to see if it could be transferable into their own teaching context too.

Ever wondered about the literariness of a graphic novel? Probably not, and yet, they're more common than ever on university syllabi for English-language academic courses on literature, sociology, history, and more. So, what’s behind the shift? And will building your creative skills help you to sharpen your English language skills and approach your writing processes more effectively? We’ll debate these questions and more as we unobscure the concept of creative writing as an academic discipline, and we’ll narrow down some of the techniques behind improving style, voice, and register. During the seminar, participants will vote to decide on which creative writing tasks they would be most interested in dissecting or debating. We’ll also examine snippets from key sources, such as Art Spiegelman's Maus, Neil Gaiman's The Sandman, and Marjanne Sartrapi's Persepolis.

SIG Hodnotíme češtinu

Abstract

Workshop bude startovacím setkáním pro vytvoření nové zájmové skupiny pro lektory češtiny napříč všemi fakultními odděleními CJV, kteří mají chuť a potřebu získat odbornou podporu pro to, aby mohli pro své studenty vyvíjet adekvátní testy a aby mohli češtinu jako cizí jazyk adekvátně hodnotit. Tato podpora se bude týkat různých témat vycházejících z principů dobré praxe v jazykovém testování, která budou tvořit pevnou kostru plánovaného programu činnosti této skupiny pro několik příštích semestrů. Některá z nich budou rámcově, popř. i formou malé interaktivní ochutnávky prezentována i na tomto workshopu. Bude dán rovněž prostor pro to, aby samotní lektoři přišli s tématy, která jsou pro ně při hodnocení češtiny nejobtížnější, kde oni sami cítí nejurgentnější potřebu odborné podpory a ve kterých by se oni sami chtěli zdokonalovat. SIG Hodnotíme češtinu je otevřen nejen lektorům češtiny, ale i všem ostatním zájemcům z CJV, které v minulých letech nezasáhlo masivní školení k testování v rámci projektu IMPACT a kteří by se na pozadí češtiny jako cizího jazyka chtěli v hodnocení jazyka dále rozvíjet.
