Exploring Language for Specific Purposes in Business and Economics at Tertiary Level

The Masaryk University Language Centre is pleased to invite you to the II CJV MU Conference “Language for Specific Purposes in Business and Economics at Tertiary Level”, help in Brno on 9^th September 2022. The aim of the conference is to bring together professionals from amongst LSP teachers of languages at tertiary education institutions in the Czech Republic and neighbouring countries in order to share knowledge and experience, and examine the latest trends in teaching LSP. We hope to establish a platform for in-depth discussions about the specifics of teaching business language at tertiary level, methods and techniques that shape the modern classroom or material design, and language competence assessment tools.

Discussion sections

• methodology and trends in teaching business languages (blended learning, hybrid forms of teaching, online tools etc.)
• development of new types of courses and teaching materials (professional and academic courses)
• trends in testing and assessment (standardized testing, portfolio assessment, formative vs summative assessment, task-based assessment, mediation, etc.)
• internationalization
• changing needs of student population

Forms of presentation

• presentation (20 minutes + 10-minute discussion)
• workshop (45 minutes)
• poster presentation (A2-A0 size)

Abstracts in the language of presentation ranging between 200 to 300 words are submitted via the registration form.

Conference participants can submit the papers to the peer-reviewed journal CASALC REVIEW.
