3:00 PM – 4:30 PM - room s137, CJV, Komenského nám. 2
This session will explore the process of publishing in academia, from pitching an idea to the final submission. Based on her recent experience, Katie will share the challenges her team faced during a 22-month project which involved editing the work of 39 collaborators from 25 countries. She will focus on the common errors her team encountered whilst editing the chapters e.g., academic voice, style, referencing and paragraph structure, and demonstrate how to avoid them. She will highlight the importance of communication between the writer and the editor, feedback and keeping to deadlines.
Katherine (Katie) Mansfield was one of the editors of ‘International Perspectives on Teaching and Learning Academic English in Turbulent Times’ which was recently published by Routledge, New York. She works at the University of Westminster as a Senior Lecturer and Module leader for undergraduate and postgraduate Academic English modules.
