Someone said that talking about VR is like dancing about architecture. Thus, the workshop will be hands-on. Participants will have an opportunity to try an EFL lesson in immersive virtual reality from students' perspective. The "lesson" will consist of a brief introduction and training to control the VR technology (15 minutes) and a topical EFL lesson administered directly in VR. The practical part will be followed by a critical reflection and a discussion with the instructional designer and researcher who authored these lessons and participated in developing the original software for VR.
We will be very happy to hear your feedback and help you elaborate on ways in which VR could be useful in your practice. There is no previous experience required for participation - getting to know the technology is a part of the experience and you will be guided through it with care. Should you feel uncomfortable or dizzy when wearing the VR headset or should the tech be unsuitable for you (e.g., it might be uncomfortable for neurodivergent people, people with eye-sight impairment), you can follow the lesson in a 2D environment/screening.
