Designing Assessments Using AI

Kerry Platts is going to talk about the use of AI in assessments by presenting a case study from her own university (UCC), looking at the policy decisions that they made as GenAI emerged and how the university adapted to this new technology. She will then give a step-by-step example of how she has used GenAI to design assessments for a Pre-sessional programme.

Kerry Platts is a university language teacher at University College Cork, Ireland. Kerry has over thirty years of experience in teaching English as a foreign language, and has previously taught in Turkey, The Czech Republic and Thailand. She also has extensive experience in teacher training on Erasmus programmes and has been a CELTA trainer for the last 10 years. She is head of Pre-sessional programmes at UCC and most recently has developed an interest in GenAI and in particular using AI for ass
