Academic Writing (and Reading)

Writing and reading are essential skills in academic work, and in the daily
life of an open society. As language teachers, we often teach writing and
reading skills. But we know that we can always teach them better – in ways that
excite and challenge our students, showing them how writing and reading can
help them engage with and understand their place in the academy, as well as
their place in the world.

Our group meets once a semester to share recent research and good practice in
the teaching of academic writing and reading skills, and to share ideas on how
our Language Centre can play a central role in promoting good writing and
reading pedagogy at Masaryk.
